Mastering the Art of Wheel Cleaning: 6 Steps to Achieve a Proper Shine.

Cleaning your car wheels isn’t as easy as you thought. You can find yourself missing a lot of spots depending on the type of wheels on your car especially if you don't have the gear and knowledge necessary for effective wheel cleaning.

In this blog post, we'll go over the six steps you need to follow thoroughly to clean your car's wheels. Steps that will give you great results every single time.

Of course, you can create your own once you've gotten used to the ones I'll provide. These are simply the steps I've followed when I've detailed hundreds of customers' vehicles; they're by no means exact.

Step 1: Don't Forget the Inside of the Wheel
Neglecting the wheel interior is one of the common mistakes. It frequently goes unnoticed, resulting in a build-up of dirt and grime.

Lightly mist the wheel with water, then use a wheel Cleaner. I mostly use an all-purpose cleaner and spray it on the wheel interior. Take a long bristle brush and thoroughly scrub the inside of the wheel.

Step 2: Paying Attention to the Backside of the Spokes

While you're cleaning the inside of the wheel, make sure to clean the backside of the spokes too. Even if dirt isn't visible, it can still build up and have an impact on how your car looks in general.

Use a towel to remove as much dirt as possible, ensuring a thorough cleaning.

Step 3: Clean the Face of the Wheels

Now that you've dealt with the inside and backside of the wheel, it's time to clean the face. You need to start by removing any dirt or brake dust that may have accumulated during the previous steps.

Use a flagged bristle brush or a thin lug nut brush, depending on the design of your wheels, to deeply clean the face. Take note, choose a brush size that suits the complexity of your wheel design.

Step 4: Pay Attention to the Details

It's crucial to pay attention to the details, to achieve long-lasting, like-new wheels.

Focus on areas such as the lug nut area and the small valleys between the spokes. Use a smaller brush or a towel, spray these areas with an all-purpose cleaner, and give them a thorough scrub.

Step 5: Rinse Off the Wheel

After the cleaning process, it's time to rinse off the wheel. Allow the water to wash away all the dirt and grime as you make your way down from the top. You don't need excessive pressure; a gentle stream of water will do the trick. Take this opportunity to double-check for any missed spots and give them a quick clean.

Step 6: Dry the Wheel

It's important to dry them properly to avoid water streaks and spots on your clean wheels.

Wipe away any remaining wetness with a dry towel. If you have access to an electrical leaf blower or an air compressor, use it to blow out any standing water from the tire and wheel pockets.

By following these six steps, you'll achieve sparkling clean wheels that will enhance the overall appearance of your car. Don't hesitate to give your wheels the attention they deserve and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done!
